In this book, grizzly bear author and photographer Tim Rubbert vividly illustrates critical practices that all hikers should follow to avoid dangerous bear encounters. Drawing on his thousands of observations and encounters of bears in Yellowstone, Glacier, Denali, and Katmai national parks, Rubbert shares his trail-tested lessons about how to hike and camp safely in grizzly country. Each lesson is illustrated by stories and photographs of actual bear encounters. Rubbert is also the author of Hiking with Grizzlies: Lessons Learned and Hiking Safely in Grizzly Country: More Lessons Learned. He has hiked more than 50,000 miles in grizzly country and has experienced more than 3,000 sightings of grizzly bears.
