This is one of the coolest projects we’ve completed in a long time! This is an Eagle Dancer totem from the San Juan Pueblo tribe, dating from approximately 1910 and used in intricate choreographed rituals to call the eagles back to the region. We were asked to build a shadowbox for it, and the only real direction given was that the Eagle Dancer be visible from all sides. We had a case created from welded steel with all of the sides relieved; we glazed it with anti-reflective Museum glass and mounted the Dancer to a mirror. The clients were thrilled with the end result (as am I) and they’re on the hunt for another totem to display in the same manner!
