Liz Park

SEATTLE, WA

Liz is originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania. She has pursued art from an early age, and continued her education by majoring in painting at the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA. Upon graduating with a B.F.A. in 2006, she moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she lived and worked as a horse wrangler on a guest ranch for several years. In Jackson, the roots of her career as a modern western wildlife artist took shape. The surrounding scenery and wildlife she encountered there has continued to be one of the main subjects of her artwork. In 2017 she moved to the Pacific Northwest, and has since been incorporating some of the new animals and scenery she now experiences into her work.

Her medium of choice for many years was acrylic paint on varnished wood panels. For those pieces, she uses a simplified color palette, and plays with negative space letting the wood grain show through to create interesting compositions, usually of wildlife and mountain scenes.

In 2021, she began experimenting with using watered down acrylic washes on canvas to mimic watercolor, still striving to create an interesting background to create compositions around. Although she still creates pieces on wood, her work on canvas has been her main focus for the last few years. Liz feels fortunate to currently be making art full time while living north of Seattle.
