Paul Reimer

Paul Reimer began his journey in ironwork at the age of 15 when he apprenticed at the Kootenay Forge under the mentorship of John Smith. At 20 years old, he took over the blacksmith operations at Fort Steele, BC. In 2001, at the age of 26, Paul began his own blacksmithing business with six employees. This venture allowed Paul to pursue public art opportunities in and around BC. Today, Paul lives with his wife and two children in Cranbrook. Family and community involvement are the most important elements of Paul’s life.

Through his early public art projects, Paul was able to facilitate substantial positive changes in the way that people in Cranbrook relate to their community and to each other. He has since been able to bring that same spirit of community building with public art projects to many other cities. With 22 years of experience in the trade, his portfolio varies greatly in size, form, and function. He takes inspiration from many sources – from architecture and design to history and nature. His core principle as an artist is to facilitate a spirit of connection.
